MAMA SAN PANKO BREADCRUMBED CHEESE STICKS

  • 200g block of mozzarella cheese, cut into sticks
  • 1 cup Mama San Panko Breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Marinara sauce for dipping

Prepare the Breading Station:

  • In one bowl, place the all-purpose flour.
  • In another bowl, mix Mama San Panko Breadcrumbs with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • In a third bowl, beat the eggs.

Coat the Cheese Sticks:

  • Take each mozzarella stick and coat it in flour, shaking off any excess.
  • Dip the floured stick into the beaten eggs, ensuring it's fully coated.
  • Roll the stick in the seasoned Panko Breadcrumbs mixture, pressing gently to adhere the breadcrumbs.

Double Coating (Optional for Extra Crunch):

  • For an extra crispy texture, repeat the process by dipping the stick back into the beaten eggs and rolling it in the Panko Breadcrumbs once again.

Chill the Coated Sticks:

  • Place the coated cheese sticks on a tray lined with parchment paper and let them chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. This helps the coating set and prevents excessive melting during frying.

Frying:

  • Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a heavy-bottomed pan to 180°C 
  • Carefully place a few cheese sticks into the hot oil at a time, frying until golden brown and crispy, usually 2-3 minutes. Avoid overcrowding the pan.

Draining and Serving:

  • Use a slotted spoon to remove the cheese sticks and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.

Serve:

  • Serve the Mama San Panko Breadcrumb’ed Cheese Sticks immediately with marinara sauce for dipping.
